Supermarket Expansion Thwarted in Puppet Show;Superbia Comes to Mullumbimby
scene from superbia with an evil supermarket trolley approaching dreamer's house
Richard Hart from DREAM PUPPETS, based in Melbourne, will be presenting
his iconic puppet show entitled "SUPERBIA" at The Mullumbimby Drill Hall
on Friday the 26th of February at 8pm.
The Dreamer Family hears that the local supermarket wants to demolish
their house as part of its expansion plans. They are not going to sit back
and let this happen!! Doesn't this sound like a familiar story around
Mullumbimby?
The basic story of Superbia is as follows
For the Dreamer family, living in the heart of the Australian suburbs, their home is their universe . Mr. and Mrs. Dreamer have invested in many state-of-the-art-environmentally-friendly energy-efficient systems for the house. Their inventive and imaginative child, Dreamer, has created a number of hilarious robotic devices to help with housework - including a robot duck that can temporarily transform any room into another part of the world.
So when the nearby supermarket proposes to convert their suburban dream into a carpark, the Dreamers go into action. A grumpy gang of shopping trolleys, an allergy-prone vacuum cleaner and lawn-mowing garden gnomes are as essential features in this enchanted suburban world as the iconic Hill’s Hoist in the Dreamers’ back yard.
Richard will be interviewed on BAY FM by Karena Wynn-Moylan on Thursday 25th at 10am.
Richard has previously presented his show 'Dreamer in space' at the Mullumbimby Drill Hall and at local schools in the area.
The show is an example of BLACKLIGHT PUPPETRY where the puppets and scenery glow in the dark giving a truly magical experience.
The show runs for about 45 mins and is suitable for adults, and children over 4years old, in fact, adults will love it, especially since it comes hot on the heels of the Woolworths publicity this week.(Mullumbimby is mentioned in the show!!)
