THE CAMPAIGN

Cr Basil Cameron has championed this – he put a Notice of Motion at the Council meeting on 2.12.10 to get the traffic circulating and local businesses accessible again during the holiday period. A lively and passionate discussion by the councillors can be seen on our movie channel – our Web Manager Robert Hart captured the councillors in a rare moment of visibly heart-felt caring for community.

After a unanimous vote by the 7 councillors (Crs Tucker & Woods weren’t there) the outcome is that the General Manager is to negotiate with Woolworths about lifting the barricades thus removing what has become an embargo on Mullumbimby. He is also assigned the task of getting commercial-level compensation for the lack of access to Council’s property being the ex-Telstra site which locals have been waiting to rent from Council (Cr Tabart’s motion).

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Our General Manager has a delicate and difficult challenge here and it would be great if we can show community support. Rather than flooding him with emails, please write direct to Woolworths using sample letter above or email GBoyer@woolworths.com.au.  

Any copies sent to us will be handed collectively to the GM.
